What do you think is the optimum time for both moms and babies to be on maternity leave?

What's funny about a picket line?

If you don't know his position on the subject, why do you think he would be mad about possible changes?

actually no, i do not think quality daycare interferes with SAH, i don't think the study was even comparing working parents to homes with stay at home parents.

I think it depends on the mother and child, but I think companies should offer an option up to 6-9 months.

Did I miss something? Who said that your dad's or senior citizen concerns are not valid?

my dad isn't a rallier although he did stand on the picket lines when teachers went on strike back in the 1970s, Lol. i don't know what his position is about the whole obamacare thing but i think he'd be mad if that meant big changes to what he was used to all these years, and his or senior citizen concerns in general are valid ones!

Yes, to me anyway, Rand's "philosophy" is exactly the kind of black/white thinking that tends to make an impression on teens. If a 14yo thinks it is way cool, I can understand that. It is when 45yos prattle on about Rand's genius or introduce themselves as "randists," that I wonder.

I remember being very influenced by the Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged when I was a teen, and re-reading the Fountainhead recently, found it easy to see why it appealed to me as a teen. It was interesting to re-read it now, as an adult socialist, er, Democrat.

U.S. politics and the media play a huge role, too, though. It's scare tactics.
