I'm getting tired of the picky eater discussion, lol.

What are the *regular* foods that you set at the table at meal time?

When I was a kid, my dad didn't consider the table set unless there was bread and butter out...and milk.

When my kids were younger, we always set bread and pb on the table, as an option.

It all depends on the type of meal. I usually like to have a meat, starch and veggie.

Spaghetti & meatballs: I like to make a salad and have some type of bread.

Pizza: it is usually just pizza. Sometimes a side salad but not that often unless we get it from a restaurant that has some type of meal deal with the salad included.

Chicken, Pork Chops, Veal, Steak, Hamburgers, Turkey Burgers, Hot Dogs, Sausage, Meat Loaf: it all depends on what type I make.

I had an aunt who did the bread and butter with every meal thing but she had three boys so I think a part of it may have been a cheap filler.

I cannot think of any meal time staples. We never set pb and bread on the table. It always an option but if someone wanted it they had to get up and get it themselves.

Is there anything that you ALWAYS set, regardless of what's being served?

There is

No, not really. Each meal is different, even if it is made all the time.

Drinks are different every night too. Everyone usually has something different, tonight my husband and I had diet green tea, one kid had water, the other lemonade. Some nights I will have a glass of wine or beer with my dinner, most nights water. I try not to have too much bread with dinner as we all don't need that many carbs-lol!! I try all different types of bread though and usually have it mostly with pasta and soups or chili. When I have people over to eat, I will include a salad and bread though.

I only put out salt and pepper when we have corn on the cob.

I tried grilled watermelon one night and I was the only one who ate it-lol!! My family is not into fruit at dinner. To them, that is a snack or dessert.

Regular foods? Like foods that are on the table on a frequent basis?

Lean meats, usually roasted or grilled (b/s chicken breast, turkey sausage, pork loin, pork chops, ground turkey, salmon, shrimp)

Veggies, usually roasted, steamed or raw (green beans, carrots, aspargus, green beans, asparagus, corn, zucchini, and did I mention green beans)

Fruits, usually just cut up in a bowl (strawberries, grapes, apples, melons)

ww or blend pasta, basmati rice, couscous

potatoes - usually roasted or baked

Usually water only to drink with meals, except as a treat or wine for me and dh

I rarely serve bread with a pasta meal. I figure it's just additional, unnecessary carbs.
