I'm getting tired of the picky eater discussion, lol.

What are the *regular* foods that you set at the table at meal time?

When I was a kid, my dad didn't consider the table set unless there was bread and butter out...and milk.

When my kids were younger, we always set bread and pb on the table, as an option.

That's what we do too.

Just what we like. My kids love the taste (and so do I) of the homemade mac 'n cheese with the freshly prepared homemade mashed potatoes. It is their favorite thing. Not everyone here likes gravy (not always served) on their potatoes. My teenager doesn't like any gravies. One little one likes brown (beef turkey or mushroom) and the other likes both brown and creamy (sausage, cracked pepper, etc)

Thanks for explaining. Not that I can really imagine it, but thanks. We virtually never have gravy with potatoes either, dd might put a pat of butter on mashed potatoes, but the adults usually just have them plain.

I love gravy on potatoes but nobody else in my family does and I'm too lazy to make it just for myself, lol. I suppose it's just as well, since I'm trying to lose weight.

I didn't know that. Another red bell pepper lover here. I put them in salads, stir fries, fajitas, or just eat them raw with or without a dip.

Same here. Everyone fills up their own glass (usually the same ones we have all been drinking out of all day) before they sit down. If they need a refill, they get up.

You are very welcome. We learn so much by asking questions! I love to hear how others do things.

I whip the butter in the potatoes as I mix them w/my mixer.

Gravy is like sweet tea & grits here in the south, it is a staple. My grandmothers hardly ever put supper on the table without homemade biscuits & a bath of homemade gravy. Those were staples every night 7 days a week.

Mpotatoes were always something served a few times a week. Along with all the fresh garden vegetables from their dh's gardens.

Enjoyed our conversation.

Oh dear, using a mixer for mashed potatoes is, I am afraid, sacrilege, up here in the north that is. ;)
