A 2 year old and 17 month old twins. First she accomplished *that* through two surrogates! Wonderful what modern medicine can do.
Anyway, she doesnt work full time, she consults to several companies so is out of the home one full day then a few hours a day on other days. Sometimes for work, sometimes to go to the gym, etc.
She has a full time live in nanny, and two part time nannies. Essentially they always have someone with them and the kids. She feels she needs two to properly care for her three.
I immediately thought of all the comments her lifestyle would elicit from this board.
The day she and I met she had just come from a 2 hour session at the gym, and was then heading off to go do some shopping.
BTW, she's a complete rock star in industry, having 'retired' a year ago after a 30 year career that took her right up to the top of corporate America so she's definetly *earned* her right to do whatever the heck she wants.
But anyway, she feels she is a super hands on mom. I was curious what others would think?

i dont feel i am pretending they dont exist - i can honestly say that i dont see anything negative about our schools. im not saying they are perfect, but if someone were to ask me to come up with one negative about our schools i dont think i could. i wish they did do block scheduling in high school but im not sure that is really a negative, just something i wish they would change, other parents like it. i wish they offered more advance math classes than they do, but there are so few kids who need them that i understand that the cost doesnt work for the district. i wish they didnt allow military recruiters to come to the school and hit kids up, but most people in my area are all for that. when i think of negatives in a school i am thinking more along the lines of weapons in the schools, bullies who are unchecked, overcrowding, large classes, unresponsive teachers and administrators, an unsafe environment, etc....

not totally. because after i wrote that i thought about my own kids, while my oldest excelled in montessori, and i think my youngest would my middle child would have been lost, but she is also a kid who is painfully shy - but then that makes her a bit different than the average 7 year old - not saying there is anything wrong with it or her, that is just her personality. i do think if you take a typical 5 year old and send them to kindergarten it really wont matter that much if it is a public, private or even hs - assuming they are ready to start kindergarten.

Doesn't it depend on the kindergarten? There are kindergartens within a mile or two from where I'm sitting where the roof leaks, the parents are in jail, and every single student has free lunch.

Perhaps she means that while there are negatives, the positives out weigh them?
