A 2 year old and 17 month old twins. First she accomplished *that* through two surrogates! Wonderful what modern medicine can do.
Anyway, she doesnt work full time, she consults to several companies so is out of the home one full day then a few hours a day on other days. Sometimes for work, sometimes to go to the gym, etc.
She has a full time live in nanny, and two part time nannies. Essentially they always have someone with them and the kids. She feels she needs two to properly care for her three.
I immediately thought of all the comments her lifestyle would elicit from this board.
The day she and I met she had just come from a 2 hour session at the gym, and was then heading off to go do some shopping.
BTW, she's a complete rock star in industry, having 'retired' a year ago after a 30 year career that took her right up to the top of corporate America so she's definetly *earned* her right to do whatever the heck she wants.
But anyway, she feels she is a super hands on mom. I was curious what others would think?

That was a very similar course that we took, longer route unfortunately but we ended up in a place that was better for our kids, not that they wouldn't have done well in the public environment, just that this school is better for them.

and that schools like that exist in the wealthest country on earth is a sad comment on this country. and certainly that school should be shut down or repaired immediately. i do have to say i dont think the number of kids on free lunch has anything to do with the quality of the school, necessarily. but yes, i was rather myopic in my point of view, in that i did assume a choice between equal quality education

I'm gonna have to disagree.

Ds was ready for kindergarten. He's done well. He's going on to first grade. However, it hasn't been easy. He's a socially different kind of kid. If I'd had the option of a Montessori program or other alternative-teaching-style program, he would have done better and it would have been easier on all of us.

He did fine. There isn't anything wrong with his school. He's had a good teacher. And, in the end he did fine. But I think he could have done *better* in a different environment.

gee pka, did you or did you not agree that the half mill to million dollar properties were not the *most* beautiful you were referring to earlier?........

.....thanks for the particular area hint to prove my point. this beautiful home appears to sit in the city. a comporable to this in the burbs would be less, which just happen to be where the better schools are as well. unless this portland pl area has wonderful schools or something?!

By "better," do you mean academically or socially or in some other way?

how can you place such solution on a different school though, okie? i would think that if a kid has a social challenge/problem, his learning or acceptance for that matter, would be much less in an alternative school. private schools don't have to deal with it the way PS must.

just curious.
