A 2 year old and 17 month old twins. First she accomplished *that* through two surrogates! Wonderful what modern medicine can do.
Anyway, she doesnt work full time, she consults to several companies so is out of the home one full day then a few hours a day on other days. Sometimes for work, sometimes to go to the gym, etc.
She has a full time live in nanny, and two part time nannies. Essentially they always have someone with them and the kids. She feels she needs two to properly care for her three.
I immediately thought of all the comments her lifestyle would elicit from this board.
The day she and I met she had just come from a 2 hour session at the gym, and was then heading off to go do some shopping.
BTW, she's a complete rock star in industry, having 'retired' a year ago after a 30 year career that took her right up to the top of corporate America so she's definetly *earned* her right to do whatever the heck she wants.
But anyway, she feels she is a super hands on mom. I was curious what others would think?

of course there are no guarantees. my position is that the more chances you have to practice something the better at it you will become, be it dealing with social circumstances, reading, or hitting a baseball.

My kids' school offers Latin, perhaps in the hope that the Latin Mass will make a comeback.

In order to provide the best education for all of my children, I don't want to take on teaching the more challenging highschool subjects that dd will need. Also she is an excellent volleyball player and I want to give her a chance to play for a PS team where she will likely get more visability and develop her skills more. There are many more reasons that I won't go into here.

I would say that is entirely dependant on the kid. Not all kids respond the same in the same circumstances.

i guess that may be some of the problem, i dont see any negatives with regards to the public school, maybe if i lived in an inner city i would, but where we have chosen to raise our kids, i just dont see them.
and i really think that unless you have a child who is very, very different than most children they will do well in whatever education system they are put into.

thank you ik ;).....my sister chose latin as an elective (over french) at the catholic h.s. we attended years ago. i find it neat that it's still offered now as latin masses aren't that common anymore.

You don't see ANY negatives? I have to say you are one of the first parents I have ever heard say such a thing. I think if you are being honest, you could see at least some negatives. It doesn't do our kids any good if we just pretend they don't exist.
