Someone on another board posted this link.
http://blogs.babycenter.com/celebrities/2009/04/12/dr-laura-says-all-moms-should-stay-at-home/?scid=momstodd_20090414_A:2&pe=2U8vYLf
It's about Dr. Laura saying that all women should be SAHMs until the child is at least 3 years old.

Whether we're talking about working or staying at home, I can't quite wrap my head around what is going on inside the brains of people that apply the phrase "all women should".

Do you think militants are actually serious, or just trying to get a rise out of others?

I think they are absolutely for real. I think moderates (myself included) have a hard time wrapping their heads around the militant frame of mind and must simply accept that it exists. I'm not just talking about SAHM?WOHM. I think the moderate/militant split is just as baffling to both parties also in politics, religion, and pretty much any arena where people can have a strong opinion. A moderate SAHM has more in common conceptually with a moderate WOHM than with a militant SAHM and so on down the line. No matter what the arena, moderates can't wrap their (our) heads around the perceived

ITA. It's inarguably true that a child who gets no love from mom will grow up with emotional scars. They then leap across a Grand Canyon sized gap to equate not seeing a first step with the child feeling no love.

I agree with that. It's quite one thing to say something like "If you have to work, then you can't afford your children and should give them up for adoption" and quite another thing to actually tell your child goodbye forever because Mommy would rather get rid of you entirely than be with you only part of every day. If faced with the decision, most people would realize that the damage done by sending them away would be INFINITELY greater than any effects that they claim to be caused by having a working mother.

Dr. Laura preaches no sex before marriage, and no "shacking up."
