Militants - are they for real?

Someone on another board posted this link.
http://blogs.babycenter.com/celebrities/2009/04/12/dr-laura-says-all-moms-should-stay-at-home/?scid=momstodd_20090414_A:2&pe=2U8vYLf
It's about Dr. Laura saying that all women should be SAHMs until the child is at least 3 years old.

Whether we're talking about working or staying at home, I can't quite wrap my head around what is going on inside the brains of people that apply the phrase "all women should".

Do you think militants are actually serious, or just trying to get a rise out of others?

Personally, I define it as pushing something the size of a watermellon out an opening the size of an apple, lol.

No, I'm referring to college educated mothers.

I am referring to lifestyle choices of the individual not actions that have positive impact on society.

Don't throw in special needs situations.

The percentage of parents who choose to SAH is always on the rise in a bad economy.

Let's use your words: an uncomplicated natural childbirth. Yes, that's what I mean. I don't consider that a medical trauma. It's more a natural part of life.

My first dd was born by c-section because of fetal distress and failure to descend following 20 hrs of labor including failed forceps and suction. My second dd was born by scheduled c-section. Speaking for myself only, I have never considered either of my children's births to be a medical trauma (although I think that dd1's birth was probably traumatic for *her*). I can understand that someone else might feel differently for themselves.

You can call it anything you like (although I have a hard time considering pg a "sickness" myself), but the bottom line is that you got 8 weeks paid leave (2 weeks before and 6 after) *because you had a baby.* The only difference is that the op got a longer leave and hers wasn't paid by her employer--she actually contributed to the fund she and other parents are paid from.
