Militants - are they for real?

Someone on another board posted this link.
http://blogs.babycenter.com/celebrities/2009/04/12/dr-laura-says-all-moms-should-stay-at-home/?scid=momstodd_20090414_A:2&pe=2U8vYLf
It's about Dr. Laura saying that all women should be SAHMs until the child is at least 3 years old.

Whether we're talking about working or staying at home, I can't quite wrap my head around what is going on inside the brains of people that apply the phrase "all women should".

Do you think militants are actually serious, or just trying to get a rise out of others?

You too? Geesh, it's like a baby brigade in here.

And nice to see you over on this board, btw!

My PCP considers my pregnancy to be normal and uneventful, and yet I have, at times, felt rather traumatized. I'll admit to being rather wimpy, though.

Wow, we really are due close to each other! Congratulations on your upcoming baby! We can count on our fingers how many weeks until the massive sleep deprivation begins - ain't that a cheerful thought? ;-)

Hell, I'm having trouble finding childcare around here that takes babies younger than 3 months!

Ditto here. I would have to volunteer a lot or I would go insane.

It's not a matter of being wimpy. Everyone be honest: even the nicest of labors still feels like a line-drive to the coochie for a little while. Hooray for Dermoplast and those nifty water bottles!

I don't think it is unusual to consider 35 hours full time. That is usually the minimum that companies consider full time work to be 35 or more. Under 35 is part time.

But in most of my full time jobs in the past I worked 8-5 with an hour unpaid lunch, thus 40 hours.

I wish this opinion piece included a link to the original study. I'd love to know what cohort they included in their research.

Signed,
mom of two kids with working parents who are not now and never have shown signs of cognitive delays, quite the opposite, in fact.

But you know, teaching a child ABC and 123 is very, very hard. So I understand if you don't feel you're up to it.
