Militants - are they for real?

Someone on another board posted this link.
http://blogs.babycenter.com/celebrities/2009/04/12/dr-laura-says-all-moms-should-stay-at-home/?scid=momstodd_20090414_A:2&pe=2U8vYLf
It's about Dr. Laura saying that all women should be SAHMs until the child is at least 3 years old.

Whether we're talking about working or staying at home, I can't quite wrap my head around what is going on inside the brains of people that apply the phrase "all women should".

Do you think militants are actually serious, or just trying to get a rise out of others?

I'm sure it often is, but mine was not. We had time to keep trying to get her out vaginally and only when a combination of things made my doctor decide we couldn't proceed did I have a c-section. There was no rush to the OR and no general anesthesia as ladybug describes below.

I'm sorry that happened to you. It sounds very traumatic. My dd1's birth wasn't an emergency, and as I've tried to make clear in this thread, I'm not generalizing my experience, or my perception of it, to anyone else.

Here is where you and I were probably seeing things from a different point of view. I was speaking of trauma in terms of injury to the tissue, not to the patient in the grand scheme of things. If it wasn't injured tissue, it wouldn't need to heal. KWIM? Any damage to tissue is referred to as "trauma" in medical circles. (Yes, I know I'm not in the medical field, but my father is the regional medical director, and my sister, two aunts, several uncles and my grandfather are physicians, so I'm familiar with certain commonly used terminology, such as "trauma").

I had that problem, too. Even finding someone to take a 3 month old baby was challenging for me. We ended up asking my mom to watch him. Luckily, we only needed someone to watch him three days a week.

Oh, I see. No, I wasn't thinking about FMLA. I was thinking about paid medical leave that you get from your employer. I hadn't thought about states that have that kind of system. There are a few, right?
