Militants - are they for real?

Someone on another board posted this link.

It's about Dr. Laura saying that all women should be SAHMs until the child is at least 3 years old.
Whether we're talking about working or staying at home, I can't quite wrap my head around what is going on inside the brains of people that apply the phrase "all women should".
Do you think militants are actually serious, or just trying to get a rise out of others?

De-lurking to say how much I am enjoying your posts :)

>> Oh, I see. No, I wasn't thinking about FMLA. I was thinking about paid medical leave that you get from your employer. I hadn't thought about states that have that kind of system. There are a few, right? <<
Whose employer? Mine doesn't have paid medical leave. I don't know of many that do, actually. If I did not (thankfully) live in a state that has a paid family leave following the birth or adoption of a child, I would have my unused sick/vacation time and that's all the pay I would get during my maternity leave.

Why hide your light under a bushel of bears, I ask you?

I think that most families -- of any work status -- are as stressed as they choose to be.

I don't know if it's the same today as it was years ago, but 13+ years ago I wasn't even supposed to drive a car after having my c-section, no stairs, no

I agree and would also like to add those lovely curveballs that life likes to throw at us. Withing 24 hours of each other I received a call that my car is totaled and that my grandfather is in a coma and not expected to last the week. You can't help getting a little tension in your neck at times like this.
Oh I understand. Everyone's experiences are different. Mine was uber-traumatic and very disappointing that I missed her birth, didn't see her for hours after she was born, she ended up in the NICU for days, didn't get to hold her till the day after she was born, etc. I vowed in the hospital that I would adopt a million times before I physically got pregnant again. Hahaa...whoopsie. Funny how time can dull the painful memories, isn't it? :-)
I'm scheduling a repeat section with this one, in hopes of avoiding what happened last time. Just thought I'd share since you had 2 sections...not that you asked or anything. ;-)
