Militants - are they for real?

Someone on another board posted this link.
http://blogs.babycenter.com/celebrities/2009/04/12/dr-laura-says-all-moms-should-stay-at-home/?scid=momstodd_20090414_A:2&pe=2U8vYLf
It's about Dr. Laura saying that all women should be SAHMs until the child is at least 3 years old.
Whether we're talking about working or staying at home, I can't quite wrap my head around what is going on inside the brains of people that apply the phrase "all women should".
Do you think militants are actually serious, or just trying to get a rise out of others?

Then I really don't know where you draw the line.
Up until the very end, her L&D were probably what *you* would call normal and uncomplicated. It wasn't until the baby was out that the extent of the damage was apparent.

Why hide your light under a bushel of bears, I ask you?
Why hide your light under a bushel of bears, I ask you?
Totally agree.

Hugs....I'll help you carry some of your worry with your dh (sending out positive thoughts and prayers), but the dishes can sit.

Well then c-sections aren't a natural part of life either, they are also a medical procedure....they really are trauma.

LoL.....

Mine wasn't all that bad, well except for all the physical restrictions that the surgeon placed on me after having the c-section.

I don't know, having been through one....a vaginal uncomplicated childbirth that is, it is clear to me that having a child is medical trauma based on standard definitions that have been explained in this thread.

Similiar thing happened when I had DD3. I had a history of false labor, spending a few hours in the hospital only to be sent back home.
I was determined I was not going to go through that again. With my first two my water broke 2-4 hours before I delivered so with DD3 I was going to until my water broke and then go to the hospital. When it got to the point that the contraction were coming fairly quickly and I was no longer able to walk through them I aborted that plan.
Good thing. My water did no break until I was delivering her. It was 45 minutes from the time I got to the hospital and she was born. As soon as the nurse checked me and told me my stats I knew that I had waited too long to get any drugs.
But even with no drugs it was a much less painful delivery than my other two.
Perhaps what we need are some synonyms.
When I say medical trauma, I call to mind the following words: wound, laceration, contusion, gash, scrape, scratch, cut, bruise
NOT emotional trauma, aka: affliction, agony, hurt, misery, pain, torment, torture, woe
(Edited because I said "gash" twice)
