Militants - are they for real?

Someone on another board posted this link.
http://blogs.babycenter.com/celebrities/2009/04/12/dr-laura-says-all-moms-should-stay-at-home/?scid=momstodd_20090414_A:2&pe=2U8vYLf
It's about Dr. Laura saying that all women should be SAHMs until the child is at least 3 years old.

Whether we're talking about working or staying at home, I can't quite wrap my head around what is going on inside the brains of people that apply the phrase "all women should".

Do you think militants are actually serious, or just trying to get a rise out of others?

>> A c-section doesn't require an emergency situation. <<

Not all c-sections... but some do.

Of course not, I said as much as much earlier, some people plan/want to have scheduled c-sections.

That's along the lines I'm thinking as well....when I say medical trauma I look at the definition here...

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/trauma

1 a: an injury (as a wound) to living tissue caused by an extrinsic agent

Yes, probably so. I don't see pg and childbirth as an "injury" but a natural part of life. I think we don't do it justice when we define it as a "medical trauma" akin to surgery or a heart attack.

I don't think it matters that all went well until the end. A complication is a complication, whenever it occurs. To me the line is when there is a complication.

I've been asked if I think major surgery, heart attack, etc. are medical trauma. I said yes. I don't think an uncomplicated pg and childbirth are in the same category. I think we just have to agree to disagree there.

Can you tell me at what point someone is too far into labor to get drugs.

"(Which explains why I can't relate to this 11 extra hours gained by not commuting business.)"

I traded higher income from a WOH job with an 11 hour per week commute for a lower income with no commute. Sounds like you made the same choice. What's not to get?

Yes, I'm sure that's true. You seem to be arguing that any c-section that was not planned is an emergency c-section. I've already explained why I don't agree with that, and I don't think I can add anything more. My dr did not consider my c-section an emergency, and that's good enough for me.
