Militants - are they for real?

Someone on another board posted this link.
http://blogs.babycenter.com/celebrities/2009/04/12/dr-laura-says-all-moms-should-stay-at-home/?scid=momstodd_20090414_A:2&pe=2U8vYLf
It's about Dr. Laura saying that all women should be SAHMs until the child is at least 3 years old.

Whether we're talking about working or staying at home, I can't quite wrap my head around what is going on inside the brains of people that apply the phrase "all women should".

Do you think militants are actually serious, or just trying to get a rise out of others?

Crap, I guess we are near the poverty level then. I had no idea.

It would in mine, too, and very hard. We WOULD be up a creek if I decided to stay home.

That's fine. You're the one drawing these lines, so I thought I'd ask.

And in whoville's also. That doesn't mean it's that way for "most" families with dual WOHPs.

Except I wasn't responding to whooville's comment - I was responding to yours.

We don't have ANY close friends who couldn't "drop one income for 9 months" without spending savings or going into debt, except for "rainy day" savings accrued for just such a purpose. <<

I'm really glad for you and your friends that you could go w/o one income for 9 months and still be in good financial shape. Really, I am.

But I still think it's pretty sucky to characterize people who CAN'T do that as "financially unstable" or "living near the poverty level."
