Militants - are they for real?

Someone on another board posted this link.
http://blogs.babycenter.com/celebrities/2009/04/12/dr-laura-says-all-moms-should-stay-at-home/?scid=momstodd_20090414_A:2&pe=2U8vYLf
It's about Dr. Laura saying that all women should be SAHMs until the child is at least 3 years old.

Whether we're talking about working or staying at home, I can't quite wrap my head around what is going on inside the brains of people that apply the phrase "all women should".

Do you think militants are actually serious, or just trying to get a rise out of others?

That's too bad. As I recall, you didn't finish college until your early 30s, so I guess your kids won't see it as a priority either.

I think it all depends on where you live.

Moms only make $17,000?? Seems very low. And why

So if feel if you have enough money, you will never fight over how to spend/save it?

And the comment that mozart quoted, the comment that you made to whoville, is not about whether or not there are non-financial quality of life issues. It is a comment that draws a line between people who can drop an income for nine months without using saving or going into debt and people who can't, and calling the line you draw the poverty line.

You can backpedal and claim it's about whoville's comment to take the spotlight away from the point you tried to make, but you still made the comment, and it still comes off as either horribly naive or an intentional slam against all but a few. Actually, it comes across as an insincere comment intended to make someone else look and feel bad. If we were able to drop one income without touching or adjusting our savings, I'd say we had been making terrible choices regarding our current level of savings. There is no way we should have an entire income that we are simply spending on unnecessary items every month.

Could you please explain that? I followed the discussion backwards, but I cannot figure out how the idea that people have stress at all financial levels, and money being the number one thing couples fight over, "is precisely why families with a SAHP are less likely to fight about it". Could you explain it, please?

"If it's important enough for you, you make it happen. "
