Militants - are they for real?

Someone on another board posted this link.
http://blogs.babycenter.com/celebrities/2009/04/12/dr-laura-says-all-moms-should-stay-at-home/?scid=momstodd_20090414_A:2&pe=2U8vYLf
It's about Dr. Laura saying that all women should be SAHMs until the child is at least 3 years old.

Whether we're talking about working or staying at home, I can't quite wrap my head around what is going on inside the brains of people that apply the phrase "all women should".

Do you think militants are actually serious, or just trying to get a rise out of others?

<My PCP considers my pregnancy to be normal and uneventful, and yet I have, at times, felt rather traumatized. I'll admit to being rather wimpy, though. >

LOL, me too! I'm sure some women wouldn't blink at the labour & delivery I had, but for me it was traumatic as hell!

I heard on the news today that we're having a bit of a baby boom here - 16% increase in births.

Perhaps there really is something in the water ;o)

When I was in labour there was a woman in the next room who was obviously almost finished, and she was SCREAMING her head off! I was still fairly early on and managing ok with the gas & air, so that was a little worrying.

As it turned out I had an epidural anyway as he was in a bad position and they had to pull him out with a suction cup.

SO and I are arguing about a homebirth next time. I want it, he's worried about if something goes wrong.

We'll see. I don't plan to TTC for a while yet, so there's lots of time to change his mind ;o)

I probably shouldn't say this to a pregnant woman, but a friend of mine tore in a star pattern all around the baby's exit.

Ow.

<I tell the doctor to stay the H.E. double hockey sticks away from with an episiotomy for that very reason - I'd rather have a 2nd degree tear naturally than have an incision possibly rip into a 4th degree tear.>
