Someone on another board posted this link.
http://blogs.babycenter.com/celebrities/2009/04/12/dr-laura-says-all-moms-should-stay-at-home/?scid=momstodd_20090414_A:2&pe=2U8vYLf
It's about Dr. Laura saying that all women should be SAHMs until the child is at least 3 years old.

Whether we're talking about working or staying at home, I can't quite wrap my head around what is going on inside the brains of people that apply the phrase "all women should".

Do you think militants are actually serious, or just trying to get a rise out of others?

According to Whovillereject's theory, my DD will only aspire to a BA, since that's all I had when my daughter was born. I was in grad school at the time, but that doesn't apparently count for anything. My son however, who was born 2.25 years later, will aspire to a Master's degree, since I had graduated with my Master's by then. I mean my daughter's memory of my not having a Master's degree is really going to have a lasting impact on her. ;)

I know, but again there are some people that seem to think that working *always* means financial gain for the family and that SAH *always* means financial loss. I'm showing how it could conceivably be a financial loss to work.

If a family is living that close to the line with one income, having both parents WOH could certainly take them farther from the line.

not if their standards of living depends on both incomes.

I'd love to try a homebirth, or a waterbirth for that matter.

I'm sorry I ticked off so many posters with this post.

let me try to rephrase in a less inflammatory way.
