Militants - are they for real?

Someone on another board posted this link.
http://blogs.babycenter.com/celebrities/2009/04/12/dr-laura-says-all-moms-should-stay-at-home/?scid=momstodd_20090414_A:2&pe=2U8vYLf
It's about Dr. Laura saying that all women should be SAHMs until the child is at least 3 years old.
Whether we're talking about working or staying at home, I can't quite wrap my head around what is going on inside the brains of people that apply the phrase "all women should".
Do you think militants are actually serious, or just trying to get a rise out of others?

In one instance, she says mothers should never go back to work.
In the other, she admitted that she and her husband "came to the practical conclusion that I needed to go back to radio work to be our family’s primary financial support."
Those are two very different, and contradictory, philosophies. Moms should never work vs. couples should decide together what works best for them.
In fact, she is inconsistent even in the same article... where she says moms should never return to work BUT it's somehow OK if you work when your kids are in school. WTH?

>> oh,i believe there's plenty of moms IRL who HTWOH to keep food on the table, that roof over their heads. on a message board, maybe not so many willing to admit. <<

The only position (relevant to this thread) on which I feel I am militant is that no one has the right to say what is or is not the correct decision for another person/family WRT SAH/WOH.

>> I always laugh when I see eating out to be an expense of WOH. <<
Usually people refer to that in the context of eating lunch out. To which I say, duh, bring your lunch.

Also, it's mentioned that woh do not have time to cook meals in the evening so they eat out more often.
Because grilling, broiling, steaming, reheating precooked meals, or using a slowcooker is beyond the grasp of wohs, apparently.
>> Now, I believe the pp said if you aren't that well prepared, don't have children. ugh, horrible, yes, but it is her answer. lol, I believe she is saying if you don't have the resources, don't reproduce .. sorry, not laughing at you. <<
I 100% agree that people should not have children if they don't have the resources to care for them.
I DO NOT agree that the ONLY way to do so is with the husband's income and the husband's income alone.
See the difference?

>> stop excusing the COL for why you have to work,i agree. <<
Perhaps you might consider the novel notion that people have reasons to stay put?
Or that COL is not the only reason for a woman to work?
