Militants - are they for real?

Someone on another board posted this link.
http://blogs.babycenter.com/celebrities/2009/04/12/dr-laura-says-all-moms-should-stay-at-home/?scid=momstodd_20090414_A:2&pe=2U8vYLf
It's about Dr. Laura saying that all women should be SAHMs until the child is at least 3 years old.
Whether we're talking about working or staying at home, I can't quite wrap my head around what is going on inside the brains of people that apply the phrase "all women should".
Do you think militants are actually serious, or just trying to get a rise out of others?

it would really help if you would actually QUOTE what part you were referring to:
moms should not waste time on a good higher education if they have kids??? LOL! since i spent 10 years in night school, five while raising 2 of my 3 kids....one class per semester in order to get my master's degree (the only way to keep certification).
OR
men shouldn't be OB/GYN's if they have kids???

do you have to actually work at missing the point that was made?

just because one works does not in any way indicate that money is more important than raising your kids. However, it should be noted that BOTH can be done -- and done well -- given that almost 70-75% of mothers are doing that now.

OMG,LOL.
sorry for the lunch bunch plug,it really wasn't about self indulgence at all.

i can't get over these one liners...ROFLOL.

No.
Your summation of her opinion was, people should not have kids if they don't have the resources.
Her opinion is actually, people should not have kids if they cannot do on the father's income because the mother belongs at home until all the kids are grown.
MY opinion is that people should not have kids if they don't have the resources - but if they way they get those resources is to have both parents work, then that's their choice.

we're fairly disappointed that it's probably not going to happen for us this summer either. We've done it for the last 5 years. Heck, I even managed a mini-vacation with them the year that I separated from their dad.
I'm hoping we'll be able to do a few day trips or maybe even a night or two up in the boston area.

Yeah, and since I don't care to disclose my DH salary here, I guess it never will be "proven." Sad, really.
Oh well. We're SAHMs now, according to certain logic, so let's have gin and bon bons, shall we?

Day trips are a good idea. Usually our summer vacation is a camping trip (cheap!). Last summer we could not go b/c DH had surgery. This year I'll be post partum. Unless we can squeeze out maybe a weekend before I go back to work, we won't get any out of town time at all until Christmas, when we go see DH family. And while that's nice, that's not exactly a vacation. Sigh.
