Militants - are they for real?

Someone on another board posted this link.
http://blogs.babycenter.com/celebrities/2009/04/12/dr-laura-says-all-moms-should-stay-at-home/?scid=momstodd_20090414_A:2&pe=2U8vYLf
It's about Dr. Laura saying that all women should be SAHMs until the child is at least 3 years old.

Whether we're talking about working or staying at home, I can't quite wrap my head around what is going on inside the brains of people that apply the phrase "all women should".

Do you think militants are actually serious, or just trying to get a rise out of others?

I said you should be home.

"What duties are am I currently neglecting while my child is right now in gym class? "

You are neglecting your home duties. You will have to complete your chores when the children are home. They will not get your full attention. You will be neglecting them.

Why is that a "safe" conclusion? One does not follow from the other at all. What sort of "troubled" do you mean?

Your statement would be relevant if I said a father can't bond with his children.

Right, and I am sure you could find some charity that would provide some used shoes and clothing for your child. IOW, you might still be able to cover his basic needs, but why would anyone choose such a life?

<>

Why is it safe to conclude that?

You said that the mother had to be primary care giver because of her superior bond with and love for the child. That certainly implies, strongly, that the father's love and bond are inferior and inadequate for the proper care of the child.

BTW, what about grandparents? In many cultures, including the one I live in right now, the most common arrangement is that grandparents care for young children, while the parents work.

So you're seriously asserting that a woman has to choose between getting certain kinds of advanced degrees that require years to repay and being a parent?

I disagree 100%.
