Militants - are they for real?

Someone on another board posted this link.
http://blogs.babycenter.com/celebrities/2009/04/12/dr-laura-says-all-moms-should-stay-at-home/?scid=momstodd_20090414_A:2&pe=2U8vYLf
It's about Dr. Laura saying that all women should be SAHMs until the child is at least 3 years old.

Whether we're talking about working or staying at home, I can't quite wrap my head around what is going on inside the brains of people that apply the phrase "all women should".

Do you think militants are actually serious, or just trying to get a rise out of others?

How would the parent know if they are not there to supervise?

For leaving their children to work. It's the only thing I can surmise. The working mother must be soothing her own guilt to suggest a woman stays home to be glued to her child.

Manipulating ones posts is also annoying, but it doesn't stop people from doing it.

Then why did you bring it up? I don't sit with my children 24/7/365.

Working mothers only consider their own needs.

I don't recall saying they should. Another pointless comment. Is this a concern of yours? You want to sit by your children in school and they won't let you?

How would a parent know? By knowing that adults who run activities have an even greater need than parents to prevent children from running amok because they are supervising a larger number of them. You need to trust other adults to supervise your children or are in danger of smothering them with too much closeness.

If one believed that. Do you? It must be extremely painful for you to leave your children if you feel you must be with them continuously.

You don't? Then what was the point of this exchange?

Rollmops: "You do not become a better or more effective mother by being physically next to your child 24/7. "

You: Do you believe in long distance mothering? How does that work?
