Militants - are they for real?

Someone on another board posted this link.
http://blogs.babycenter.com/celebrities/2009/04/12/dr-laura-says-all-moms-should-stay-at-home/?scid=momstodd_20090414_A:2&pe=2U8vYLf
It's about Dr. Laura saying that all women should be SAHMs until the child is at least 3 years old.

Whether we're talking about working or staying at home, I can't quite wrap my head around what is going on inside the brains of people that apply the phrase "all women should".

Do you think militants are actually serious, or just trying to get a rise out of others?

Sounds a lot like my 13 year old, so perhaps my kids are not unique as I thought, they have social lives that don't revolve around the parents ?

We do chores on Saturday mornings a lot of the time or on as needed basis, but I certainly don't have "home duties" that would take me 7 hours a day, 5 days a week, which is the minimum amount of time my kids are in school, without afterschool activities/sports and clubs.

No, but you did suggest (see my previous post) that a mother who was not around their child 24/7 was "long distance parenting" and questioned "how that works."

You told pumpkinangel to "homeschool your children". Do you think all children should be homeschooled or is there something in particular about pumpkinangel that made you say that.

"I like it when dd runs a little amok,"

Which of the following definition are you using. Ladybugmak so thoughtfully posted the definition.

"Adj. 1. amok - frenzied as if possessed by a demon; "the soldier was completely amuck"; "berserk with grief"; "a berserk worker smashing windows"
amuck, berserk, demoniac, demoniacal, possessed
insane - afflicted with or characteristic of mental derangement; "was declared insane"; "insane laughter"
Adv. 1. amok - wildly; without self-control; "when the restaurant caught fire the patrons ran amuck, blocking the exit"
amuck
2. amok - in a murderous frenzy; "rioters running amuck and throwing sticks and bottles and stones"
amuck, murderously "

Do you like it when your dd runs a murderous frenzy?

What does one have to do with the other?

I asked her a question. Is she somehow unable to answer for herself?

So, you worked only after your children started school? Is every working mother home when their children get home from school?

Since I'm the one who posted that I like it when she "runs a little amok", I'm the one who gets to pick which of those many definitions I'm using, not you. To be specific, I am using the "wildly, without self control" defintion. Not the murderous or insane one. And yes, I think there are times when it is healthy to run "wildly, without self control". I love to see her do that in the field near our house. This is neither murderous nor insane, but she does run around that field "wildly and without self control" and therefore "amok".
