I think guilt is unhealthy, especially when it come to child rearing. If you really think a parenting decision you have made is so awful that it is causing you guilt, you should change it, IMHO. If the decision is the best solution under the circumstances, from your POV, then live the decision and make the best of it.

i agree about pointing yourself to positive energy when you feel guilt or regret.

I have some regrets. I have some sadness. I miss my kids at times. But guilt? No guilt here.

I have not experienced "guilt" except for a very few things....for instance, when my younger son was about six we took him to an eye doctor because he was having difficulty reading small print and found he had some fairly severe vision problems.

I think you bring up a good point, namely personality. How a kid turns out and how the kid ends up viewing his childhood has so much to do with innate traits, I think.
