Promotions - do you think that your working status plays a role?
Working moms - do you think that your status as a mom limits you on how far you can be promoted in your field?
SAHMs - do you think that your spouse is more promotable because your status gives him more flexibility at work?

I'm meeting my former boss and his wife for lunch this weekend, which is what promted me to ask this question!
My own story - my former boss was really great and he always had confidence in me and my abilities; he was also a family man so he understood and encourage me that family comes first.

I've never held a corporate job so I really can't answer your questions but, I'm curious, did you at any time during those 7 years, ask for the promotionthat should have gone with those added duties and responsiblities?

Yes, my having children most definitely affected the course of my career.
