My little taste

Today I am getting a little taste of what it would be like if I were to SAH rather than WOH. I am off work and DH is working.

I am getting the errands done that I usually do Friday evening/weekends. Really enjoyed doing my grocery shopping when the stores were fairly empty. In a bit I am going out for lunch with DD3.

I do realize that it is just a small taste. If I were home full time I would not be doing laundry, grocery shopping or going out for lunch every day and there are some things that I would be doing that I am not today.

Evidently having a day off in the middle of the workweek is pretty novel for Empty and gave HER a glimpse of what HER life would be like if SHE were a SAH. Why the need to tear down her perspective about her own life? I don't work a lot of set hours, so being alone and able to run errands or do housework or whatever in the middle of the typical workweek isn't novel for me, either. But it is for a lot of folks who are usually tied to the workplace during typical working hours.

We just found it odd for someone to NEVER have a day off by themselves. Even when you ARE a SAHM (as she said she was), your kids go to school or other places and you have the opportunity to be alone.

Are you never off when your dh is working? Just asking because even when I had kids at home (they were in school) I have had days off at home alone to run errands and just be home alone so to me this is not a foreign concept.

Empty didn't indicate that this was the first or only time this has ever happened. Just that it was happening now.

Some people do work jobs and hours where a day off in the middle of the work week, with not much to do, by yourself, is rare. One of my sisters has a job like that. I've had things return to me that I mailed to her because she can't have time off to go down to the post office to pick them up.

To me, "getting a taste" sounds like it never really happened before.

Understood but Empty has said in the past that some days she doesn't even work a full day.

Well, clearly she just wrote this post to confuse and confound those who struggle with the concept of other people living realities that are different from their own. Well played, Empty, Well played.

Ummm...no...I am going by what the poster has said in the past. I know many people who work many hours that never get much time to themselves on days that would be working. I wouldn't even had said a word if she had not said in the past she WAS a SAH before AND that she sometimes only works a few hours a day.

It just makes no sense to say that you are getting a "taste" of something that surely sounds like you have had before. Shrug.

See, it's working. You're completely confounded. You played right into her hands.
