If the day care is licensed, and if the references check out, and if you get a positive feeling from being there, then what are you really worried about?
You poor baby! I do feel for you, I really do, but at the same time I can't help but smile a little at all your anxiety. This because my kid is now a teen and I remember freaking myself out over all kinds of things, the vast majority of which turned out to be completely silly reasons to freak.
Your kid will be FINE. He may have some minor difficulties adjusting, but that will not harm him. If you are satisfied that it is a good daycare, you need to trust yourself and trust that your kid is up for the challenge. There is huge, big, wonderful world out there and you are giving your kid the opportunity to get to know it, a little bit at a time. That is what good parents do. Breathe, then breathe again. It will be fine, I promise.
You are welcome, try to focus on having confidence in yourself (that you are a good mom, that you are capable of picking a good daycare and so on) and have confidence in your child (that he will be ok and that he can deal, even if it is a little hard at first). You do him no favors by being anxious and guilt-ridden. Good luck!
You're welcome... and if you ever find yourself in the position of getting off work an hour or two early, while he's still in dc, don't think twice about getting yourself a manicure or hitting the gym while you can!

Sending your son to daycare will be a lot harder for you than it will be for him. Trust Me!

I love what you said about the big world and getting to know it little by little.
