There is an article in this month's Parenting magazine. The article was on being comfortable with the choices youve made. The general gist of the article was that each group criticizes the other in order to make themselves feel better.

Well, good thing the moms on this board would never think of criticizing each other! LOL

I came to this board a few days ago, in the hopes of getting good information to help me make my own decision on whether to me a SAHM or WOHM. I read hundreds of posts on the subject. The only conclusion I can come to from these is that these two groups seem to like each other less than I had previously thought. It makes more sense to me now, in the light that Parenting magazine brings up. Each group criticizes the other to feel better about themselves. Thanks for sharing that, I feel I understand everything a little better now!

I wouldn't agree with that in regard to the groups (SAH or WOH), however, I do agree there are some individuals (even on this board) to whom that would pertain. But I believe that is minimal, in both groups. :-)

However, that doesn't mean we can't (or won't) disagree...lol. Peteynjoeysmom and I can go at it like nothing else, but the truth is that I respect her VERY much as a person, and think we might be (GASP at the possibility) friends if we were to meet in person. :) Not that it would stop us from disagreeing with one another, though!

I respect everyone who defends their own beliefs and lifestyle. We do get pretty caustic, but that's the nature of a debate board. I think we all have friends IRL who make different choices re: work status. Very few people who stick around here for a while categorize others solely based on work status.

Thanks for the replies! True, it is the nature of a debate board to get harsh sometimes. I'm glad to hear that you really do respect and like each other overall. :)

I do enjoy watching the debate, partly because I'm not quite sure what my own opinions are on the matter for myself. I see pros and cons on both sides. I used to lean towards being a SAHM, but now am thinking about planning to be a WOHM. Although I think it will require a couple more years of college to make it financially worthwhile for me.
