Opt out or left out?

This article says that most SAH moms do so, because they can't afford to work (i.e. couldn't make enough to cover their childcare costs).  Or that their husband's income is in the top 5% of earners in the US.  So SAHMs are at the two extreme ends of income.  This seems to me to be pretty much what we've found through discussions on this board.  Do you think that there should be programs in place to make it easier for SAHMs in the lower income brackets to go back to work?  How could this be accomplished?

Wow Spring, I thought you could figure out that I mentioned "New Yorkers" and there are like millions of them right?  Most NYers IME will have frequent conversations about high taxes.  They know exactly what they pay, they compare yadda yadda.  I never said the NYers who talk about this are my inlaws.  I have talked to many other New Yorkers besides them and you.  You are the one talking about taxes excessively right now (and that's how the topic actually came up) and you have to look for someone else to blame; that strikes me as odd.

I know she didn't Thardy.  She did say she pays more taxes for programs either relating to daycare or preschool.  I'm not sure & I tried to ask several times.  I guess she doesn't know what she meant in that post.

Agreed, but the programs that we have been discussing are usually funded by federal and state grants, which are not funded by local property taxes.  High (or low) property taxes based on owning a home are not the same type of taxes that fund programs like head steart or an employer that provides a break in daycare.

Too bad this can't be taken seriously, given the constant stream of juvenile passive aggressive comments over the threads that contribute nothing to the debate.  Manwhich!

But yet....you are okay with doing it to others, I always find that so fascinating and just backwards.

Spring....for the sake of this board, please stick to the debate, I assume we have all graduated from junior high and high school already.

Yea, no...asking a question about someone and something you brought into the debate is not an attack and mentioning the truth about something is not an attack.  However, that still doesn't excuse you from your tossing of stones, does it now?  I'm not the one in desperate need of a reread of this thread...
