Opt out or left out?

This article says that most SAH moms do so, because they can't afford to work (i.e. couldn't make enough to cover their childcare costs).  Or that their husband's income is in the top 5% of earners in the US.  So SAHMs are at the two extreme ends of income.  This seems to me to be pretty much what we've found through discussions on this board.  Do you think that there should be programs in place to make it easier for SAHMs in the lower income brackets to go back to work?  How could this be accomplished?

Spring, the debate was not personal until you brought in Geschicts' husband's student status in a disparaging manner. When you do that, you must know that personal comments are then going to be leveled back at you. And, that you will look foolish complaining about folks picking on you after they walk through a door that you yourself opened.

"And, that you will look foolish complaining about folks picking on you after they walk through a door that you yourself opened." --------- Not to mention that one can easily end up looking foolish, if one tries to a diss someone for being married to someone getting a Ph.D. A Ph.D, horrors! Between PL and a Ph.D., I think I will pick, uhm, lemme see now, what should I pick ...

Because I have to defend myself Bord...this is HOW it went down. As you can see I was NOT the first to throw the stone. Oh and maybe you can give your friend a lesson on what probation is as while she is trying to throw stones at my family, she has NO clue what she is even talking about so she looks QUITE silly. NO ONE is on probation or has EVER been on probation. Again a reason NOT to put up things that you have NO clue about:

Are we talking about the same DD who can't keep track of a pair of shoes.   If so, good luck with that.

Your school taxes are not alot, correct?

They are high enough that the high school my kids will attend ranks higher than yours on the US News and World Reports ranking.

That does NOT mean your school taxes are higher. I can assure you my school taxes ALONE are more than your ENTIRE home taxes. I don't think that makes a difference to make that list. But if it makes you feel better to attack me, go ahead. After all your dh's years of school (doesn't he have a master?) is he finally making some real money?

PAGE 12---I'd rather be married to a perpetual student than a thief any day, but how're those probation hearings going? DH and I make more than enough money, thanks.  We make about the same as you and your husband, and don't even have to steal anything to make ends meet.

Spring, it is a debate board, not a mud wrestling pit.

Oh and Spring, top-notch to keep pointing out that you looked up her property taxes - "That does NOT mean your school taxes are higher. I can assure you my school taxes ALONE are more than your ENTIRE home taxes." FTR, I think her point was that her local schools are actually better, even if they achieve that on less money than is spent in your district. Shrug!

No need to go all Snooki all over the place, since class is not exactly one of her string points:

Spring, it is a debate board, not a mud wrestling pit.

This started out as a debate, but then it turned, as usual again, this time with Jessica throwing the first stone.

As I am sure your mother used to tell you, "I don't care who did it first."

I don't let anyone walk all over me (BTDT) and attack my family (with false info besides the whole point of just attacking).
