OT - My FIL passed away tonight

We just got the call. He died about an hour ago. I hope dh doesn't regret not going to see him one last time. He decided he didn't want to remember his father sick and in the hospital so never went down. Dh's family does a memorial instead of a funeral which may be next week or may be 3 weeks from now. I don't suppose I'll be doing much debating for a while.
We haven't told the kids yet. I didn't want to tell them just before bed time. We'll tell them tomorrow before we take dh to the airport. The girls and I will fly down when they decide when the memorial is going to be. I was hoping he would go quickly if he wasn't destined to recover but I didn't expect him to go this quickly. I had really hoped that dh would get down there to see his dad one more time.
Dh's mom is doing ok. Both dss's are down there now. I'm glad the boys went down. Their grandmother can use the support right now. She and dh's dad were married 56 years last month. That's a long time.
