About 10 yrs ago I was listening to a VP at my company (fortune 500) and realized that she had it all - the career/kids/husband (not in any particular order).

I am not stressed for time, but I do not like to clean. I find it stressful trying to keep on top of it and even without the proper cleaning, there are still hours of work daily just shopping, fixing meals, cleaning up after meals etc. The cleaning lady cleans the whole place once a week, does several loads of laundry and irons dh's shirts for the week. It means that I can do something more interesting with that day and that the place never gets completely out of control.

Your way might work if my dh participated in the housekeeping, but he doesn't and never will. Dd is, however, responsible for her own room, at her own insistence.

I already outsource everything...to df! lol

Honestly, I would have someone come clean the deep clean once a week if I could afford it.

I outsource. My DH is a SAHD so we 'augment' our child care with a nanny, we don't entirely outsource it. She's part time. We do outsource cleaning, pool and yard/lawn maintenance, pest control, and errands. I can't imagine working the hours I work and not outsourcing. Yikes.

i'm fairly sure I can still teach liza to be responsible if I had a housecleaner... considering we don't clean NOW it would be a BIG step up LOL

DH and I outsource as much as we possibly can. Works for us.
