Isn't "thinking of other people's children" done by anyone who buys trick or treat candy to give out?
Ha! I didn't even do that, I went to clogging class and danced.
Why would you think it was an unhappy or selfish thing to no longer arrange your work schedule around your children's school schedule.

Frankly I'm with you. I was very glad to get to the stage of life where I did not have to consider my son's needs in determining my work schedule. I don't consider it a selfish happiness, either--I consider it the just due playoff for having tweaked my schedule for so many years when John's needs were of necessity foremost in determining my work schedule.

I have almost perfect hours - for me - 2 to 8 PM.
