This topic "piggybacks" on the priorities topic where we discussed what we gave up as working women and moms, what do you think our children give up...honestly!? What do you think they gain? Also please mention your own mothers status and your experience of a child as a SAH or WOH.

Your parents should get lots of brownie points for the sacrifices made during the making of that memory!

Really, no need to feel sad. Not everybody has to celebrate everything the same way. Though I always feel so sad for those poor children whose mothers won't bake for them on National Pie Day. Can you imagine waking up on January 24th and realizing you are the only child on your block (in your city, in your world, whatever) whose mother didn't bake pie the day before? All the other children will have leftover homemade pie in their lunches.....and you will have....nothing.....

No, but given your attitude about turkey, he is clearly doomed anyway.

See that is how you plan lasting memories, make a trip to Nebraska for Arbor Day. Arbor Day in Nebraska, oh yeah! (as dd would say).

I don't think they really participated. But I guess they sacrificed by foregoing the pleasure of seeing his sly and mirthful grin as he exclaimed 'MANEEEEE!" after properly and seriously having counted "one, two" and leaving us alone with our amusements.
