This topic "piggybacks" on the priorities topic where we discussed what we gave up as working women and moms, what do you think our children give up...honestly!? What do you think they gain? Also please mention your own mothers status and your experience of a child as a SAH or WOH.

Well, actually, my kids make the pies for me now, but that is probably only because I WOH and delegate all my Mommy responsibilities to them so I can spend all my time being materialistic.

That is unspeakably sad. No planning, no consideration for their memories. I bake for pie day every year and we take a special picture as well. We make sure it is a different kind of pie EVERY year, to make the memories extra-super-special and we have the pictures in our special pie day album.

I can't help but laugh until I cry every time I read about the underage baking :) I didn't want to fuel the fire by adding that my DS, 6 yrs old, begs to help cook. I think he's traumatized by all the underage baking...

In my experience, children do not want to make pies with adults. They want to make pies with other children.

Totally OT, but welcome to the board and I have to say your son is absolutely adorable. Those big blue eyes, wow!

Yep, mud pies and we're horrible parents if we don't get down in the mud with them...

And I guess the picture taking is mandatory and I need to plan out the whole day just so to ensure that he makes the greatest memories from it.
