This topic "piggybacks" on the priorities topic where we discussed what we gave up as working women and moms, what do you think our children give up...honestly!? What do you think they gain? Also please mention your own mothers status and your experience of a child as a SAH or WOH.

"off my tangent, sorry for the novel post. if M2B's 11 YO is getting the encouragmennt for her work who knows what that could lead to later on. esp if she loves what she's doing."

Thanks so much. My child is very artistic, makes excellent crafts, has great ideas, very creative. She has joined the art club at her school and that is one club that she is not just trying out but I believe she will be in throughout her years in school.

B/c it's obviously something that people enjoy discussing...and it seems most people have an opinion, lol.

I have answered this already, sorry you don't remember. It's kind of like beating a dead horse, now isn't it? Please don't ask again as I am not going to answer anymore. Thank you.

I ordered my children personalized aprons because they love to help their dad cook (that one sentence probably revealed about 3 "rules" I have broken). When I saw it in a catalog, I could not help but chuckle at that evil company encouraging underage baking.

"I think you might be missing the point...it's not about how others see the work or even it looking "perfect", what I have seen in some artists (and again, it's not being stated every artist - just like it wasn't stated every child) struggle with the end result of their art matching what they envision it to be.

It's not about "perfect", it's about the artist's vision and bringing that to life or the frustration with not reaching their vision."

Exactly, not ALL artists, children or adults get frustrated and maybe some DO reach their intended vision.

We carve it in the trees we planted on Arbor Day, to ensure they will never forget. Then every year, between the two holidays, we go out back, re-read the list and practice it to make sure they will keep those memories I have worked so hard to give them.

Ah, but in the words of that great artist Robert Browning, “Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp, or what's a heaven for?”

I'm not grasping where you're going with my DS's age, whether or not he went to daycare and making memories.
