This topic "piggybacks" on the priorities topic where we discussed what we gave up as working women and moms, what do you think our children give up...honestly!? What do you think they gain? Also please mention your own mothers status and your experience of a child as a SAH or WOH.

I laughed so hard my belly is bruised. Can I order one of those pillows? I am too busy making memories to embroider one myself.

Has your child been around many children in the last 6 years? Did he go to daycare? Is he already in 1st grade and is aware of what others do for holidays?

She does not KNOW what TOTing is like if she has never done it. If she asked if she could do it (even though I think at her age now, she has lost out on the experience) next year, would you allow it?

I don't know about you, but I can have long, crazy talks with my friends about just about anything. Lined shorts. The day to stop wearing flipflops. What's a good restaurant in New York City. What to look for in a new church. You name it, my girlfriends and I have chatted about it.

YES because otherwise it doesn't count!

I find it kind of odd to go on another board and not even post but be interested in someone so much to click on their thread to see about their vacation.

Chatting about something is one thing, seems this was an ongoing debate. I wonder why if they were such good friends and KNOW about this posters tradition.

Ahhh...I understand now, forgive me for being a little slow on that one. He has been in daycare since he was 8 weeks old. Two states, four daycares and 2 elementary schools in his short life. Plus he's played soccer, is in cub scouts and has spent time with friends' kids. He is aware of what other families do and has asked about those things but he always decides he likes how we do things. We encourage him to ask questions about confusing things or things he wants to know more about. He understands that different families do different things and that's ok.
