You know....

It would be nice if you would address the posters who are actually causing the problems, and stop shutting down all of

I agree. The worst offenders of TOS violations aren't banned.

I agree it is getting ridiculous. We are addressing the posters, but unfortunately, people keep replying to them and then threads get out of control. The best course of action if anyone sees a post that may be inappropriate is to report it and ignore it.

While I agree that ignoring troublesome posts would be a solution, I don't think it is the best one. The best one is to punish those that are actually in violation.

Well, the thread *usually* get back on track.

Or delete the troublesome posts, but leave the reasonable ones in place. That was the policy/procedure for many years (at least, that's how it appeared to posters), and it was a more pleasant place there then.

Just because a message is reported doesn't necessarily mean it will be deleted. But that is the best way to bring a troublesome post to our attention.

It's also the best way for a poster with an agenda to bring non-violating posts to your attention and to accomplish their agenda of removing posters they don't like.

Is it or is it not against the TOS to bring up personal details or information posted on iVillage that are not relevant in any way to the debate?

Can you give me a specific example - without knowing the circumstances I would have to say "It depends". It depends on how that information is being used.
