I agree. I feel like we're the kid in the sandbox that gets tattled on for something that isn't inappropriate. If a poster doesn't like what's being said, they have the option to leave.
I'm confused, I thought the threads were pulled for review, if that is the case...I'm not sure why more specific examples are needed.
I must admit that I am highly puzzled by the recent decisions regarding what constitutes a TOS violation on this board. In the course of an entire afternoon (yesterday) one poster, secretmale, proceeded to blatantly attack several posters in a particularly offensive manner with the clear intention of disrupting the board. This poster was left in peace for many hours before the clearly attacking posts were finally removed. In the meantime, Moon Pie Zappa's entire thread about the teletubbies was pulled off completely in record time. That thread was, perhaps, poking a bit of fun at the recent antics on the board in general, but it was clearly entirely meant in a spirit of fun, rather than nastiness, and was in no way truly offensive to any poster on the board.
On a general level, I would like to take the opportunity to point out that this board was once a very lively (if rather irreverent and, occasionally, rough) place to visit. The debates were furious, but often very informative. Despite the occasional roughness, people generally respected certain boundaries and rarely crossed over them. In the last few months, I have noticed a strong tendency on the part of the CMs to come down with a heavy hand on anything that might be possibly be construed as sarcasm or irreverence. Even questioning logic of another poster's statements, a standard debate tactic, seems to now be completely taboo. The up-shot, as far as I can tell, is the near death of the board and a level of nastiness not seen even during those times when sarcasm was tolerated. I'm very sorry to see the board head in this direction. It was, for a long time, my absolutely favorite board on ivillage, despite (or perhaps even because of) the occasional hard knocks I took. It's a shame.

In my opinion, iVillage is doing its level best to kill this board entirely. There's no other explanation for the new interpretations of TOS that punish long-time, regular posters for engaging in typical debates (such as questioning the logic of a person's argument or pointing out provably false information), while not just ignoring trolls and disruptors, but by encouraging and ignoring them, systematically.
How many times did people have to RAV the poster who told TM that TM was such a cold and distant Mom that the poster was surprised TM showed up at the birth of her own kids. I know I personally reported that post multiple times a day over the course of a WEEK, while TPTB did nothing--not even removiing the post, let alone the lame "removing the thread for review" nonsense. And when they finally could ignore us no longer (because several of us would not stop reporting that post until they had to acknowledge it), they claimed "oh, we didn't see it; you should have reported it." IOW, they totally lied.
They want this board dead and gone, so they're driving off those who made it a lively interesting place to be. There is no other conclusion to be drawn.
Hear hear hear! yesterday a poster called me by my first name which was irritating but I let it go b/c I'm a grown up. Figuring we were on first name basis I returned the post by doing the same. She reported me.
Seriously people. I went to 2nd grade. it was more mature than this.
Well said Laura, well said.
Agreed, I have reported posts that clearly violate tos, it was totally black and white and yet those posts still remain...while posts that clearly do not violate tos, debate the argument being given on this debate board for some are pulled.
