Refinancing a Mortgage

Can you refinance your mortgage if the rate is not lower than the one you have now? How would that work?
Our original mortgage was 7.5%, we refinanced a few years ago down to 5.25%. I was telling a woman on one of my other message boards about how I was thinking of taking a cash advance from my discover card to clean up my checking and savings account and she said I could refinance. Is that possible?
Thanks!

So just b/c everyone else does it, you need to do it too?

Home parties can be fun w/o having to rent anything. Did you not read what I did for my dd's party last year *in our home* - no moonbounce, pony rides, etc. A simple party just like my parents used to have when I was a kid.

YOu just need to be creative. THere are many ways to have a fun party w/o spending a lot of money. And you didn't answer my question - how old are the kids?

Everyone can live without TV. Some just choose not to.

Now you're just pulling our collective legs, right? After everything you've posted, you really expect us to believe that the root cause of your situation is the cost of living where you are?

As for this, "That is why people move from expensive areas to cheaper with the same jobs and same income. Those are the people that have moved ahead in life." I can't tell if you're being funny on purpose or not.

See? You just did it again.

Quit looking at how "everyone else" is living. Or at least start looking at how people who have some financial sense are living.

No one has said she should give up TV because we did or do. We said she should give up PAID TV services because she can't afford them on her income. Huge difference.

We bought our house 9 years ago and it is a very small 3 bedroom ranch. Our mortgage is lower than most apartments because we bought it before the big housing boom. We would never, with the 2 kids, be able to get it now.
