Not everyone is lucky enough to have parents who went thru a divorce and can still co-parent. My sister and 2 good friends have horrible relationships with their ex'es and the kids suffer.

I understand that -- but I also know that luck had precious little to do with where I am -- I worked and still work my ass off to make two happy homes for that child and I will until she' flown the coop. it's not easy sometimes but it sure is worth it b/c she's a happy healthy well adjusted kid who is secure in the love of both parents.... I'm lucky that her dad is a really great guy and he's lucky that I'm a great woman, but we both work really really hard at this.

You are smart enough and so is your ex to put your dd first. A lot of people get very bitter about divorce and the kids suffer.
