At the risk of incensing militant SAHMs

I missed a *first* today. My 4 m/o baby rolled over for the first time today, and I *missed* it. I was too busy cleaning the kitchen to see it. And am I a bad mommy b/c it actually didn't even bother me that I missed it??? LOL

Pretty sad when one of the first things that came to my mind when I realized he rolled over was what militant SAHMs on this board always say. Something about being a SAHM b/c they wanted to be there for all their baby's *firsts.*

Shucks, I guess it just won't be the same when he does it the next time..... :)

You mean to tell me you were CLEANING your KITCHEN instead of gazing lovingly at your baby all day long?

Shame on you. ;-)

And I'm a WOHM and I got to see her roll over for the first time. She did it quite early at 3 weeks...kinda freaky! LOL

But my MIL saw her crawl first so I can't claim my "Mother of the Year" prize after all!

The rollover is a first that I missed with all my DDs. It would happen while they were in bed. I'd put them down one way and when I went to get them up they were the opposite.

>>I missed a *first* today

Funny, I was probably there for most of the 'firsts', but I can't remember a single one of them! And there are a couple coming up in the future that I definitely DON'T want to be there for!

"Funny, I was probably there for most of the 'firsts', but I can't remember a single one of them"

Me, either. I know they did them, in the proper developmental order, but aside from my ds who decided to take his first step at his birthday party, I don't remember the first time. And I only remember THAT one because it was recorded on film and I wrote that it was his first step in the photo album.

My friend at work saw her dd roll over for the first time recently, and told her ds to not tell Daddy so he could see it for himself. DH called her the next day all excited because he saw her roll over "for the first time". He was so excited he cried (it's his first child)

I missed my first son's first steps although I was in the same room. Why did I miss it? Because I was playing on the Internet! Bad, bad mommy.
