There's something on this board that has been bothering me, and I hope I can articulate it.

LOL, my thoughts exactly! Let me reassure you CLW, your doing the right thing by putting dd in dc. ROFL, indeed she should be insulted - as should all the parents with kids in this dough head's class!

LOL, I suppose that would be a good deduction to make... given she is at the top of the class. Really, you are too much!

Now there's a convincing rebuttal, lol. Nope, she happens to be an excellent teacher.

Sorry dear, try again. There was nothing unprofessional about this exchange. There is absolutely no reason for the teacher NOT to tell me that it's not the dc kids who are in the bottom part of the class. She was letting me know that the dc kids WERE being read to. Or, at least there was evidence that they were being read to. Nothing wrong with that.

Nope. If my dd drops appreciably, that is something to look into. If it's because her classmates are just catching up, great but it could also be due to her not being challenged. Don't need to worry about that this year as her kindy teacher is an excellent teacher and can handle my dd quite well. Next years teacher might not be so talented.

Why? My kids were both well socialized by 5. Dc does have it's benefits.

I doubt it. However, at this stage of the game, there are no national/state/district scores and they wouldn't matter anyway because what matters is the group SHE IS WITH not some hypothetical average group. Knowing where she is with regard to her peers and how fast the class progresses and how fast dd progresses does shed some light on how well she's doing in her class and whether I need to stay on top of the school to make sure dd gets what she needs. It's too easy to just let the brighter kids slide.

I still don't get your need to compare, judge, and measure your child against another.
