There's something on this board that has been bothering me, and I hope I can articulate it.

Where'd you get your PhD? I'll tell the doctors involved they're wrong, lol. I'm sure they'll be glad to have your expert opinoin here, lol. She's being tested on the advice of her pediatrician to see if she needs to be taken out of the public schools. She is being tested PRECISELY BECAUSE classic gifted behavior, in the academic sense, often doesn't manefest itself until later, however, as I'm finding out, there are several indicators early on. Many of which my dd exhibits. We won't know for sure until she's tested. If she is, she will be transferred to a school that specializes in gifted kids in the fall. After talking to both her pediatrician and the school we'll likely send her to if she is, we've decided she needs to be tested. Waiting would only cost her if she is and testing won't matter if she isn't.

Um, two different kids here, lol. The comment in question was made when dd#1, my definitely not gifted child was in kindy. Dd#2 happens to have the same teacher who uses the same charts today as she did 3 years ago. No, it has nothing to do with competition. I would like nothing better than to have the psychiatrists who will be evaluating my dd in the spring tell me she's normal. I fear they won't but it could happen.

So...even if they both behave just fine dining out when they are 10, aren't you glad you recognize the differences in their behavior at age 4?

I understand and don't disagree with what you would have found offensive.
