There's something on this board that has been bothering me, and I hope I can articulate it.

But at that age comparisons are not equal.

Aren't you glad that you knew about the strength/weakness of each boy at the same age?

Huh. Good point. Never thought about it that way. Maybe that's why dh is so good with kids...

You know, with this whole debate, I completely missed the fact that we were talking about kindergarten. I thought it was later on...like 3rd grade or so. That *does* make a difference. That's what i get for coming in mid-stream.

Now then comparing a child against their peers starts to make more sense....I agree.

I'm not sure what you are disagreeing with, per se, because your post makes total sense to me.

As far as the "guy math gene" goes, I was making a complete generalization there (and did I admit it? I meant to.) I've always gotten along better with men than women, though as I get older, I find that changing. Thank goodness.

I never thought that SAH had anything to do with being a "kid person" either. What IS a "kid person" anyway? I can probably easily define someone who is NOT a "kid person", but are there different degrees of "kid-personness"?

Sorry, it's early, and I came in at 6:30 am. I realize I'm probably not making much sense. I'm typically a morning person, but only if I get my workout in first, and I didn't.

Forgive me for being slow and not understanding.

Your last sentence says you can't compare them because they have different strengths.

No, the school needs to make adjustments if the child is not progressing a normal rate or if they are excelling.

You don't grade a class you grade an individual.
