There's something on this board that has been bothering me, and I hope I can articulate it.

Do you really think that in order to know your child's skills and abilities you need to see a chart that compares him to classmates? I knew my child's skills and abilities before he started K. I knew his swimming ability when I chose the appropriate class for him. Then I monitor his progress. It matters not where he rates in comparison with the other children - what matters is that he is appropriately placed and that he is challenged to progress.

No no. My friend always says, "Men have a one track mind." What she means is that men can only do one thing at a time. bwhahahahahahahahaha

Wouldn't you want to work as a team with your 4 year old's teachers to find out if she doesn't recognize all of the letters because she's simply not ready to yet (on her own timetable) or whether there might be something you or the teacher could do to improve or enhance her recognition?

It's because they won't MOVE anything when they're looking.

I was not speaking about simply meeting basic requirements. I was not speaking in favor of or opposed to SAH. I was speaking about living below one's means. A dual income family who is *able* to make it on one income, is well prepared in the event of an emergency/catostrophic event - in addition to having extra funds to invest and thereby earn more money and accumulate wealth. If anything, my comments would favor dual incomes as a smart financial move. That is not what I intended either, but if you are looking for a position that would be the logical one.

How do you determine if your child is appropriately placed and challenged?

It is also amazing how young they start with not being able to find things. Zak will actually step over the object he is looking for while he is wailing that he can not find it. Devin is the exact the same way-just a larger version. I told him one day, when he was asking me to locate his wallet, that just because I have ovaries does not mean I can locate everything like a bloodhound. He hasn't asked since then.

"I can be changed by what happens to me but I refuse to be reduced by it"

"I do not want to be a princess! I want to be myself"

So true. And I can usually tell DH where his stuff must have been left WITHOUT looking for it. Ohhh, does tick him off, LOL!
