"SAH doesn't support change, it supports going backwards to the 1950's,"

Statement in a post below.

I wholeheartedly disagree. To me, SAH is a choice. How is that going back to the 1950s, when a lot of women didn't have much of a choice.

I live a block away from our local elementary school. I've picked up enough of this cheap plastic junk out of the rain gutters to have to worry about the intelligence of the average 8 year old. It's the adults in charge of the programs I sometimes wonder about.

DO you think it can be harmful if not used in moderation and not used in conjunction with other "rewards" for reading?

<<Not all of them would stop, but some would. We all know that kids are different and forcing them all to fit into one mold of internal vs external rewards is simply harmful. We can't make them all the same, so why are you trying? >>

Yes all kids are different and I took two different approaches and still do with each of my boys.

I guess slacking off can always come later, right? I also took AP courses Senior Year. Still they were "cake" compared to what I put myself thru my 1st 3 yrs of h.s. My goal was the Ivy League.

<<So, because her child is completely different from your child, she has somehow failed as a parent? >>

No, didn't say anything about failure, her child or any combination there of.

That's certainly your choice and as I stated it wouldn't be mine.

My youngest favorite "fun" time of school, beside recess of course, is DEAR time.
