"SAH doesn't support change, it supports going backwards to the 1950's,"

Statement in a post below.

I wholeheartedly disagree. To me, SAH is a choice. How is that going back to the 1950s, when a lot of women didn't have much of a choice.

Wait, wait. I thought everyone went around picking up the trash?

And did she specify what time of year it was in her post or am I just supposed to assume that it was this time of year?

Huh? I didn't say it was every child's "right" to get a prize. I said that it is beneficial to those kids who need that kind of external gratification. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it at all. Most of the prizes that my kids get are not material in the least - movie day, limo ride, swimming party. Little trinket don't do much for them, but give them something that they can come home and say "mom I get to go swimming because I earned it" and that goes a lot further with them than "well, my teacher told me I had a good day today."

They are in every stimulating activity there is available to them. So they are getting the educational side of the personalities stimulated. The prizes they work towards helps with their competitive personalities. My kids are extremely competitive (they get that from me unfortunately)so I am glad that their teachers have found a way to enrich all aspects of their personality. If your kids don't have that type of personality, you won't understand how I want to cultivate it.

Um, a salary? You work for your salary, you work for your bonuses, you work for your promotions, right?

Or an indication that you didn't fulfill the requirements your employer deemed necessary to earn that raise?

Fine. I don't mind my children having pizza in moderation. Funny how it hasn't had any kind of harmful effects on them.

There are some things that you can't force. You mean you have control over how quickly your child matures? I bet you were also one of those parents who thought you could teach them to walk before they were ready also. Some things are purely genetically determined.

So, now small periodic awards in early elementary now leads to high credit card debt? Now THAT is a stretch.

I never said that the form was always a pizza coupon. My children have had way more "awards" than pizza coupons. The pizza coupons do not even remotely excite my kids. It is the big prizes - swimming/movies/limo rides/pajama day - that get the most attention from my kids.
