"SAH doesn't support change, it supports going backwards to the 1950's,"

Statement in a post below.

I wholeheartedly disagree. To me, SAH is a choice. How is that going back to the 1950s, when a lot of women didn't have much of a choice.

And our school district has plenty of those as well.

Now you are being completly ridiculous. Small, occasional awards at school are now being compared to physical abuse? Way to far of a stretch.

We do some extra-curricular activities. Living where we do, there are not that many options without driving a distance. I don't see the advantage of having them sit in school all day, driving 1 1/2 hours to the nearest city where these activities are available, spending the time at the "lesson" or whatever. There would not be any time for them to be kids. I would rather them pursue their other interests and spend time with their friends than drive them everywhere.

The TAG program is the "next level". I am not going to have them skip grades, I am not going to drive over an hour to the town where the majority of the type of extra-curricular activities you mentioned are available. They would simply miss out of too much of their childhood that way. I have talked to several parents who did those kind of things with their kids when they were the age of mine are now and the majority of them told me they regret it.

That is a generalization that you are not qualified to make. It is a good program. It is just that my kids have mastered the activities faster than the other kids in the program. They are happy with it and that is all that matters to me.

Do I really need to quantify EVERY SINGLE WORD IN EVERY SINGLE POST? ok, here goes:

Any method that does not have a diverse side effect or one that which can cause bodily harm and does not break any kind of physical law or that does not put any child in any kind of danger and gets a desired result is acceptable.

Some of us do not have the time or the patience to explain simple concepts to educated adults.

Here's what you are missing... honor roll is the CHILD'S achievement. Not missing school isn't.

"If they didn't get some kind of recognition for the work that they do, they simply would not do it because they would rather be with their peers. I want them to be challenged so I have them in TAG and yes, I am glad that their teachers recognize the sacrifices they make."

I'm sorry, but I'm struggling a bit with this concept. Both of my children are given different assignments and homework than their peers. They begged for it, and their teachers go through a lot of trouble to provide it to them. How are my children making sacrifices by having this different work assigned? I consider the teachers, rather, to be making sacrifices on their time to provide what is essentially a privilege.
