"SAH doesn't support change, it supports going backwards to the 1950's,"
Statement in a post below.
I wholeheartedly disagree. To me, SAH is a choice. How is that going back to the 1950s, when a lot of women didn't have much of a choice.

My DD just lost the battle with gravity too. Throw in some physics and she really lost.
My child who got the swimming party is 9. He wouldn't have read 15 books so far this year if he didn't have something to work towards. He wouldn't work toward a colored paper - he does that enough in "quiet time" in class - but he will work towards a 3 hour swimming party. When he is 17 I am sure that I won't get him to work for a swimming party. Then he will work for the "A". Something not quite as tangible, but still a reward.
"i just find this big to do about something so harmless amazing"
Oh no, but it is harmful! There was an article posted here by some professor sitting behind his big desk saying that it is.
I'm very sorry about your mom. Truly I am. I still have my mother with me and speak with her everyday and I know when she's gone and I can't hear her voice anymore, life won't be the same. Accept my apologies.
In the same breath, you can't expect me to have known that your Mom is gone and now that you posted something that I did not know about to make it seem like I am a heartless bad guy is a bit much.

But this is exactly my point with the awards. No, there is nothing wrong with the food itself. Like you said, they enjoy the food, but "it's not the only thing or the most important thing by any means". That's all I'm saying about the rewards. They are enjoyed, but not the only or most important thing. Not above the education.
