"SAH doesn't support change, it supports going backwards to the 1950's,"

Statement in a post below.

I wholeheartedly disagree. To me, SAH is a choice. How is that going back to the 1950s, when a lot of women didn't have much of a choice.

1st of all, it didnt' say "calories" it said "food"...just to get the facts straight. Second, do you not think that holidays for some can become an excuse to eat more than necessary? Why do so many people fall off the "diet" wagon when it comes holiday time? Not saying for this person in particular, but in general.

They are not useless questions. You said that your were fine with any method that gets the desired result. It is obvious you would not advocate abuse, however, you did not say WHERE you would draw the line. While some posters here draw the line at bribes (or prizes or whatever), you draw it...... Where? Somewhere other than abuse I'm sure.

What are you even talking about? PKA never said she took him to the game because he was bored at school.

You didn't explain anything. Your response would only make sense if I had said "Those two awards have nothing in common." Unfortunately, that's not what I said. I asked you WHY a child should receive an award for something they have NO control over. All you've said is that they have control over it because they can nag their parents.... whatever. That still doesn't help kids whose parents are the best ever, but their grandma dies or they get the flu. Shock me this time and post something incoherent.

Than you know certain aspects of their personality can be hard to deal with. My son's ADHD manifests itself in needing external forces. His internal forces are too jumbled and chaotic to benefit him much in some areas.

My children know that the only reason they will ever have a cell phone is purely for emergency purposes. They won't be one of those kids who has one just for the sake of having one. Unless they pay for it themselves - by getting a job, remember we don't do allowances - they won't be getting one.

As for the car, grandpa already said he is buying them one. We won't have to.

Anything that no longer gets results. A friend of mine has a teenage daughter. This daughter has been given an allowance since she was 5 years old based on chores she did around the house. Her parents claimed that it was going to teach her how to manage her money, how to be a good steward. She is now 17, refuses to get a job, refuses to help out her parents in any way. Still she gets her allowance - and has no savings. Her parents still think that they are going to use this system to teach her good stewardship. The award is no longer getting the desired result, it is useless.

Different situations, different lines.

That's probably what will make us get cells, too.

I've read before that cell phones are pretty much the norm for all in Scandinavia, and also inexpensive. I don't think it's true in all of Europe, however. In Austria, whoever is *calling* the cell phone gets charged like .20 a minute. (Reason # 1 why I never call my dad's cell) Also, the plans are pretty expensive there.
